The Evidence Shouldn't Be Locked Away
The inscriptions, seals, stelae, and city walls that confirm the Tanach's account of the ancient world are scattered across excavation reports, academic journals, and museum catalogs that most people will never see. ModernTribe brings them together in one place: every artifact sourced, dated, photographed, and tied to the text it corroborates. That record is now one of the most complete free resources of its kind.
Keeping it that way takes real work. Every new entry means tracking down the primary publication, checking the dating and the reading of the inscription, licensing a photograph of the object itself, and cross-referencing it with the people, events, and places it touches. New finds are published every year, and the site has to keep pace with them.
ModernTribe has no advertising, no paywall, and no institutional sponsor. It is built and maintained by readers who think this work matters. If you're one of them, your support is what keeps it going.

Archaeology is the Beginning, Not the Whole Case
The archaeological evidence is only one part of a larger argument, and the other parts are just as contested and just as hard for most people to find. How was the text actually composed, and do the theories that took it apart survive scrutiny? How faithfully was it transmitted across three thousand years? What does the unbroken history of the Jewish people say about the text that shaped them? And where do Torah, philosophy, and modern science meet, and where do they clash?
These questions are usually settled for the public by people who never look at the evidence. With your support, ModernTribe will put that evidence in front of everyone, and give readers a place to argue it out for themselves.
Artifacts, people, events, and sites that corroborate the Tanach. Continually expanding as new finds are published.
The Documentary Hypothesis and its successors, explained fairly, then tested against the linguistic and archaeological evidence that has accumulated since.
How the text was passed down through the generations, and what the manuscripts, from Ketef Hinnom to the Dead Sea Scrolls and beyond, reveal about how little it changed.
The people behind the text, from the Patriarchs to the modern state of Israel, and the continuity that connects them to today.
Cosmology, origins, ethics, and reason. The hardest questions are taken on directly, with the strongest arguments on every side laid out and answered.
A place to share new discoveries, debate the questions they raise, and take on the challenges to the Tanach that come up in the news, in classrooms, and online today.
