The Tanach, with the evidence built in
This is the complete Hebrew Bible in the Jewish Publication Society translation. Wherever a real archaeological find bears on the text, those words are underlined in gold✦. Hover over them or tap them to see the artifact and what it confirms. From there, Next find takes you to the next underline, so you can tour a whole book’s evidence, and the share button turns the verse into an image.
Each chapter lists its finds under its title, and the chapter picker shows how many finds every book and chapter has. The AA button sets the text size, light or dark, and English, Hebrew, or the two together.
Chapter 4
1In that day, seven women shall take hold of one man, saying,“We will eat our own foodAnd wear our own clothes;Only let us be called by your name—Take away our disgrace!”
2In that day,The radiance of the LORDWill lend beauty and glory,And the splendor of the land[Will give] dignity and majesty,To the survivors of Israel.
3And those who remain in ZionAnd are left in Jerusalem—All who are inscribed for life in Jerusalem—Shall be called holy.
4When my Lord has washed awayThe filth of the daughters of Zion,And from Jerusalem’s midstHas rinsed out her infamy—In a spirit of judgmentAnd in a spirit of purging—
5the LORD will create over the whole shrine and meeting place of Mount Zion cloud by day and smoke with a glow of flaming fire by night. Indeed, over all the glory shall hang a canopy,
6which shall serve as a pavilion for shade from heat by day and as a shelter for protection against drenching rain.
